     Tourtellotte’s Diversity Club was created about 3 years ago and since that time has become one of the most active clubs in the school.  The club aims to promote understanding and acceptance between different cultures through education and exposure. 

    

Mission Statement:

   The Diversity Club will promote fun educational activities that will interrupt prejudice,

work for peace, and encourage a better understanding of different cultures, religions, races,

abilities, and sexual orientations in our school and community.

 

Membership:

 

 The Diversity Club is open to all TMHS students with good academic standing regardless of ability, race, creed or sexual orientation.

    Become a member of something positive, join us in room 217 every Tuesday after school until 3:30

 

Activities ~ past and present:

   2004-5 

· Sponsored School Climate Survey

· Helped Organize and participated in Tsunami Relief

· Helped organize and participated in Homelessness Awareness

· Attended play at UCONN—”Faces of America”

· Made and served Apple pies for TEEG

· Made wreaths and sang Holiday Carols at elderly housing

· Attended a True Colors Workshop at Central Connecticut State University

· Planned and promoted Ally Day

· Saw the movie “Crash”

· Went to a Japanese Restaurant
