Text:A Short course in Photography Hand-out as assignment requirements
Course Description: The major objective of this course is the study of photography, the function of the camera and related equipment. It designed to cover a broad view of photography as an Art form and the influence photography has had on our lives. Students will learn about the history and evolution of photography, the study of composition, lighting, portrait work using props in a structured setting and in nature. Students will also study film for the Art Elements and Principles of Art as applied to photography. Composition, camera techniques, black and white film developing and the experience of creativity with photography are major components in this course. Goals:Goal 1: Know types of cameras and parts. Study of book and process of film and paper darkroom developing, photography techniques, composition and more.. History of photography, professions. Goal 2: Film study, developing, meaning of the picture, photographing landscapes, finished work with good design and composition, dimensional projects. Requirements:Students are expected to be prepared by having assignments completed on time and to work productively each class period. Resources:Art room materials and instructional book, hand-outs. Evaluation:· Class participation · Quizzes and tests on reading assignments and class work · Grading of photographs using rubric · Continuous display of work for student benefit and to improve overall school environment
