Mathematics - A way of Life |

Let me take a moment to welcome you all back to Thompson Middle School. I’d like to introduce you to my webpage. I use this web page as a communication tool for students and parents! I’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome each and every one of you to the 8th grade! This will be a year full of challenges and much hard work! During the course of the year, you will be engaged in many problem solving activities, you will complete projects and above all else – you will learn LOTS OF MATH! As we begin the year, let me take a moment to reinforce some important rules: 1. Student must come to class prepared! – This means you must be on time, have a PENCIL, notebook, math book and homework and AGENDA!!!. 2. Students are expected to exhibit appropriate classroom behavior. If your behavior is inappropriate, you can be sure that a phone call will be made home. Continued behavior problems will result in detention and then referral to the office. 3. Classroom management – One way that Mrs. Chenail maintains order in her classroom is by keeping track of all lost teaching and learning time. If the class’ behavior prevents teaching and learning from being accomplished this time is tracked and accumulated up to 30 minutes. Once a class has lost 30 minutes of educational time, the entire class MUST stay after school for a math lesson (to make up for the lost lesson time). I look forward to teaching every one of you! Let’s work together to make 2006 - 2007 the best school year ever! Mrs. Chenail – 8th Grade Math |
