A |
SRA Reading Comprehension B1 Each week the students will complete 3-5 lessons. |
Each lesson involves skills in listening and reading comprehension. New skills are presented in each lesson as well as constant review of material learned in the previous lesson. |
The unit contains 10 lessons. This unit shows how to make deductions, find contradictions and follow written directions, as well as other skills. |
Each lesson builds on the lesson before. At the completion of each unit the students will read a short novel to apply their skills to reading a novel. |
No homework will be assigned from the SRA series.
Please see agendas for any specific assignments from the novels. I will update
the site at the end of each unit completed. |

Period B Math |
The students are all working on basic math facts, money skills, applying skills to fractions, decimals and percent. |
All the students in class have different goals and objectives. Each student is working at their level and on skills they need to master. |
A variety of
materials are used to achieve mastery. Educational games and computer
software are also included as part of their programs. |
Please have your child practice skills in making change, shopping, telling time and applying skills in fractions whenever possible. |
Homework assignments are based on the student’s ability
to complete the class work. If your child was unable to complete, the work
given in class it is assigned as homework. Please check your child’s agendas.
I will initial work given on that day. Classzone.com. This internet site gives students additional
practice, as well as, tutorial lesson. |

Period C
|
SRA Decoding Level C 1. |
In this series students work on vocabulary development, oral reading and some comprehension skills. |
The book is broken up into units. Each unit contains 10 lessons. |
At the completion of this unit the students will be reading, The Cay by Theodore Taylor. |

Period F Language Arts |
This year the students will cover spelling, grammar,
editing and revising short paragraphs, writing essays and reading short
stories. |
The students will also complete a weekly lesson on editing, revising. They will correct 4 paragraphs that contain errors in punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and mechanics of writing. |
Each month students will complete monthly persuasive essays prompts. |
Presently the students just completed the short story Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling. Next week they will be reading Dirk the Protector by Gary Paulsen. In three weeks the students will be reading What Do Fish Have to Do with Anything? by Avi |
