| Rules & Responsibilities |
| When the bus leaves the school with students and adults, the driver is responsible for that vehicle. His/her main responsibility is to devote 100% of his/her attention to the road and driving the vehicle. |
| Student Responsibility |
- The same conduct in the bus as in the class.
- Do not eat or drink on the bus.
- Cooperate with the driver and listen to the chaperone.
- Do not smoke or be destructive on the bus.
- Stay in your seat and talk quietly to your friends around you.
- DO NOT MOVE TO ANOTHER SEAT
- Keep hands, feet, and head inside the seat compartment at all times. |
| Driver Responsibility |
- Do a complete pre-trip of the vehicle prior to the trip.
- Sign off on the safety of the bus.
- Make sure the vehicle is clean when you arrive at the pick-up point.
- Have the vehicle fuelled and check the first aid box for contents.
- Drive to and from the event in a courteous and safe manner.
- If it is necessary to pull off the road, make sure you go all the way over so that the vehicle is completely off the main travel road.
- Be aware of the route and if necessary have a map with you.
- Have a trip sheet with you for documentation of mileage and time.
- Fuel the bus when the trip has ended |
| Teacher/Coach/Chaperone Responsibility |
- Discuss rules of the road with students prior to the trip.
- Spread chaperones out among the students on the bus.
- Adults and Students must not change seats and everyone must keep their feet and bodies out of the aisles.
- No eating on the bus. This means gum, candy and drinks.
- Group leaders are responsible for the behavior of the students.
- Quiet voices for everyone. This makes for a pleasant trip
- The adults should handle discipline.
If the driver finds it necessary to enforce the rules they will be reporting the incident to the bus coordinator.
